I returned home one evening just after it rained and it struck me as odd to see two clucking chickens about 7 feet up in a tree.

Maybe they felt safer up there than on the ground where you’re dog might chase them. Everyone (and all animals) have to be somewhere, right?
chickens around here fly up into the trees to roost at night. i guess that’s where you sleep if your owners aren’t rich enough to have a hen house?
